Old School Stuff

  • Mike Uhrick and Mark Chazanow cut their teeth at a family business in Dallas, Texas, owned and operated by Mark’s grandfather and uncle; Now a loyal Venture Metals customer.
  • Mike’s background in chemistry proves economically beneficial: he applies a technique for the reclamation of precious metals.

1986

  • Mike Uhrick founds Venture Metals
  • Mike Uhrick and Mark Chazanow begin a 35-year (and growing) partnership.

Learning the Business

1993

  • Mark Chazanow interns for a large metal recycling company as a college student in Austin, Texas.

1995

  • Mark Chazanow becomes a management trainee in El Paso, Texas.
  • Mike Uhrick joins Yonack Iron & Metal, Co.

1996 - 1999

  • Mark Chazanow moves back to Dallas, Texas and into a management position.
  • Mark Chazanow founds Metallic, Inc. (Metallic).

2003 - 2006

  • Metallic partners with Yonack Iron & Metal, Co.
  • Both companies are sold.

2009

  • Venture Metals remains an operational commercial/retail yard with a growing focus on industrial accounts.

Getting Started

2011

  • Mike Uhrick and Mark Chazanow decide to officially go into business together and to make Venture Metals a success.
  • Mike Uhrick and Mark Chazanow partner with Chris Chong to create an export and brokerage business – SI Metallics.
  • Venture moves operations from downtown Dallas to a slightly smaller yard, located in the central part of the city.

  • Initial focus is on industrial, ferrous scrap metals.
  • Services approximately 400 customers per day.
  • Industrial account management side of business grows.
  • Operation expands to 105,000 square feet.
  • Focus shifts to include industrial, nonferrous scrap metals.
  • The business quickly doubles then triples in size and expands into a larger facility in West Dallas.

Acquisitions

2016

  • Venture Metals acquires Pioneer Metals.

2018

  • Venture Metals relocates to Luna Road in Dallas, Texas.

2019

  • Venture Metals partners with Mill Rock Capital. Visit them at www.millrock-cap.com.
  • Venture Metals acquires Versatile Processing Group, Inc. and VPG Metals Group, LLC.
  • Venture Metals acquires Dulin Metals, Co.
  • These acquisitions allow Venture Metals to double in size and extend its network and capabilities.
  • Business rebrands as Venture Metals International.

  • Headquartered at 10848 Luna Road, Dallas, Texas 75220.
  • Operates 6 domestic and 1 international commercial-only facilities, all with unique capabilities.
  • Is a leading provider of safe, secure recycling and reclamation services to industrial, manufacturing, and service facilities around the world.
  • Services 500+ partners, including global leaders driving economic growth across a wide range of industries, who rely on us to create scalable and efficient material flows for their recyclable materials.

  • Business re-brands as Venture Metals +.
  • Embraces environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) best practices, helping our partners reduce their negative environmental and social impacts.
  • Expands recycling and reclamation offerings to include materials beyond scrap metal – plastics, wood, cardboard, and fluid.
  • Venture Metals opens a trading office and plant in South Korea.
  • Is prepared for industry-leading growth and innovation!
