Transportation and Logistics Our in-house, rapid-response transportation and logistics department has a collective 150+ years of experience and is the sole point of contact for all related services, for all VM +. Eight members of the team handle the administrative side of the job, while nine company drivers and 40+ contract drivers hit the road every day. They’re responsible for the entire logistics process of moving scrap from one place to another. They handle all the planning, management, control, and coordination needed to make sure that everything’s in the right place, at the right time, for the right cost, and in the right condition. They also handle: Dispatch Procurement Fleet maintenance Third-party logistics Customer service and support Roll-off inventory and quality control Cross-border documentation and coordination Vendor, service provider, and transport carrier coordination Our drivers, specifically, are at the forefront of our class-leading customer service. They don’t just drive from point-a-to-point-b, they stay aware of their surroundings when visiting a site, come up with ideas to make their jobs more efficient, work to provide the best possible service, coordinate loading/unloading requirements with site personnel, maintain compliance while on the road, stay well within all DOT and federal regulations, and keep their vehicles maintained, inspected and road worthy.
