Braden Bailess Memorial Golf Tournament

Each year we participate in and help sponsor the Braden Bailess Memorial Golf Tournament held in Houston, Texas.

Braden Bailess served in the 2nd LAR BN, 2nd Marine Division before tragically losing his life in an automobile accident in July 2002. Braden’s legacy endures through the tournament which bears his name and has raised tens of thousands of dollars annually since its founding in 2006.

Proceeds from the tournament are given to carefully selected foundations that offer unique opportunities to veterans. Recipients have included the:

  • Vail Veterans Program, a charity that supports America’s soldiers injured in combat.
  • PGA Tour charity Birdies for the Brave, whose Military Warriors Support Foundation helps veterans transition successfully to civilian life. Through this program, the tournament has helped provide eight mortgage-free homes to deserving combat-wounded veterans since 2006, with preference given to Purple Heart recipients.

This year, our team (Mike Uhrick, Mark Chazanow, Joel Dupre, Preston Dargan, Matt Ellis, Sean Spicer, and Kelly Fairchild) had a great day of golf supporting our colleague, Blaine Bailess, the Braden Bailess Foundation, and the brave men and women that serve our country. We had the pleasure of playing with Bobby, a veteran that lost one arm and had 80% of his body burned in combat. He’s an amazing person and out drove many of us – a reminder that attitude is everything.

Thank you, Bobby, and thank you to all who have and continue to serve!
