A Can Full of Social Service As Thanksgiving approaches, and in keeping with the spirit of the season, we just completed our second-annual, company-wide canned food drive. This year, we came together as one team with a healthy sense of charity, excitement, and friendly competition, to collect 2,415 total items – a year-over-year increase of 331 total items or 15.9%. We donate all items to a local charity decided on by each individual VM + location – Dallas, Texas; Wills Point, Texas; Houston, Texas; and Des Plaines, Illinois. Here in Dallas, we partnered with the TurnAround Agenda’s food pantry. We’re continually touched by their mission to “make a difference in someone’s life and together we can successfully close the gap on hunger.” The pantry was nearly bare and the staff there told us how much our contribution matters, especially given the season. Our Charitable Outreach Committee, who sponsored this year’s event, creates initiatives and a structured system for team members to give to, volunteer in, and work with the local communities we serve. How we manage these relationships is a hallmark of ESG and an important factor in our day-to-day operations. Thanks to those who donated and worked behind the scenes to make this year’s event a success.
